Check out Newfields/Indianapolis Museum of Art
It’s easy to get inspired at this iconic Indianapolis institution. The museum enjoys a unique design that combines art and nature. Along with masterpieces from artists ranging from Rembrandt to Lichtenstein, the museum’s comprehensive permanent collections explore a variety of art forms and perspectives, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, video-based works and international galleries devoted to the art of Asia, ancient Greece and South America. The museum campus itself is a masterpiece that includes over 100 acres of woodland. The galleries are surrounded by beautiful gardens and water features, and visitors can catch live performances at the mansion or meet up with friends to microbrews at the bar.
While you are there, be sure to check out the Portraits of Our City exhibition, which features hundreds of black and white photographs of Indy residents and seeks to connect viewers to the local community by showcasing the unique individuals that make up our city. Portraits of Our City will be on display through July 29, 2018.
Find Your Beat at the Rhythm! Discovery Center
It’s always playtime at Rhythm! Discovery Center, which is the world’s first fully-interactive drum and percussion museum. Even if you’ve never drummed before, it’s hard to resist the interactive exhibits and hand-on instructions that represent cultures from around the globe. Visitors are encouraged to explore the universality of rhythm and percussion, as well as learn more about its role in shaping the way we communicate, create music, and connect as a society. The museum also offers a variety of educational programs, live performances and events, so make sure you check out their event calendar. Conveniently located in downtown Indy, this is one experience you won’t want to miss.

See Wicked Live and Make Your Friends Green with Envy
A true cultural phenomenon that was won more than 100 international awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, Wicked is one of the biggest Broadway hits in recent years. The musical takes viewers to the land of Oz long before the arrival of Dorothy and reveals the early lives and misperceptions of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. Luckily, you don’t have to travel all the way to New York City to see this blockbuster show, it’s playing at Indianapolis’s own Old National Centre from April 25 to May 13, 2018.
The Old National Centre is just 1.3 miles (about eight minutes by car) from our hotel. Visit the Old National Centre website for details and tickets.
